Warm Audio WA-MPX Tube Mic Preamp Review

Warm audio has released a the WA-MPX Microphone Tube Preamplifier for Home and Studio Recording. Pre

It's an authentic reproduction of the AMPEX 351 tube mic preamp and it has some extra features.

I’ve been a long time Warm Audio user. I have the Warm Audio Tonebeast preamp and I've been using it for years. It's my go-to preamp on acoustic guitar and critical sources

So when they offered me to try out the WA-MPX tube mic preamp, I was pumped. The big difference between the MPX and the tonebeast is that the MPX is a very colored, very distinctive sound. In general, preamps don't do a TON to your sound. Generally a good preamp will just offer a volume boost, possibly some harmonic richness, some girth in the midrange, and it might play with your highs very subtly.

This is not the case with the MPX. This tube mic preamp can completely alter your sound, if you want that. You can totally drive the input, get distortion, smash your low end, tickle the lower mids, compress the hell out of your signal, and you can really drive those tubes!

Warm audio also has great customer support. They responded to all emails right away, and they replaced my unit immediately. Customer service like this is really rare, especially in today's world. This is a good company, with good people.

Both pedals use premium components in their true-to-original circuit designs to faithfully reproduce these iconic tones. Check out this tube mic preamp for some iconic tube microphone tones. With premium components, true-to-original circuit design, and selectable tape saturation, the WA-MPX authentically reproduces all the analog tone of the original to bring vintage warmth & color to your sound.
